Hi!

Welcome to my blog.

Bible Museum

Bible Museum

Near the end of the year, I had an unexpected day off and decided to head back to Washington, DC to visit the relatively new Museum of the Bible. I had heard about this museum from Tim Wildsmith’s videos on YouTube and was intrigued by the history and progression of the various forms and interpretations of the Bible.

This museum is a bit different than what I expected. It is not outright religious or denomination-specific, but rather a literal history of the spoken and written Bible, how the different translations came to be, the people behind them, and how the Bible was effected by various events in world history. There were exhibits on world leaders, writers (C.S. Lewis has his own “room” dedicated to him), a traveling exhibit on the Dead Sea Scrolls, and even a replica printing press to show how the first mass-produced Bibles were manufactured. I lost count of how many Bibles were on display, from the first King James Version, to some misprinted Bibles, right up to current editions like the Bibliotheca Bible.

If you’re ever in DC and have an afternoon free, this was a really fun and educational museum, one I will be going back to for some future traveling exhibits.

Remember to always Spin the Compass.
